What FileFixxr checks and what the findings mean

Each finding names a print problem, such as low resolution, no transparent background, thin lines, RGB colours or missing bleed, with what to do about it.

FileFixxr judges the file at the size you will print it. The result is one of three states:

  • Ready: no findings.
  • Review: there are findings to look at.
  • Blocked: at least one finding will cause a print problem (only for T-shirt or textile).

Findings about the artwork

FindingWhat it meansWhat helps
Resolution too lowThe image has too few pixels for this print size; 300 dpi is recommended. For screen use: too small for this size.Increase resolution, a smaller print size, or a larger original
Background isn't transparentThe design has a solid background that will print.Remove background
Semi-transparent areasParts are partly see-through, which DTF cannot print as such.Remove background or Make a printable version
Soft shadow or glowSoft edges fade into transparency.Remove background or Make a printable version
Lines too thin to printSome strokes are under 0.25 mm and may break up.Thicken thin lines
Thin white linesWhite lines that are too thin to hold.Thicken thin lines
Text too small, Details too smallSmall text or details may not print clearly.Thicken thin lines, or a larger size
Gaps too narrowOpenings in the design may fill in.Thicken thin lines
Large solid areas, Many loose parts, Very detailed outlineThings to be aware of for transfers; usually no fix needed.Check with your printer
Standard settings usedFileFixxr used its standard settings for this file.No action needed
CheckFails whenWhat to do
Colour modeColours are RGB, not CMYK. A press prints CMYK, so colours will shift.Export a print PDF with CMYK (FOGRA39), or convert in your design app
BleedA PDF has no bleed, or less than 3 mm on every side. The print PDF export can add it
Output profileThere is no print colour profile (output intent). The printer has to guess. The print PDF export with CMYK embeds ISO Coated v2 300% (FOGRA39)

Bleed is checked for PDFs only; images have no page boxes.

These are FileFixxr's own checks, not a certified preflight. Your printer's check is final.
