Share a file or folder by link
Last reviewed Lees dit in het Nederlands
Create a link anyone can open without an Endorr account, choose when it expires and copy it. Studio Free workspaces can have up to 10 active links.
Create a link
- In Files, open the file's or folder's More menu and choose Share link (or use Share link in a file's details). You need manage access to the item.
- Under Link expires, choose After 7 days, After 30 days or After 90 days. After 30 days is preselected.
- Select Create link.
- Select Copy link and send it to the person who needs it.
The confirmation shows the date the link expires. Anyone with the link can view and download the file. No account is required.
The menu also offers Never. At the moment such a link is created with Endorr's default expiry of 7 days, so check the date shown after you create it. Links can last at most 365 days.
Before you send a link
- Share links are not password-protected. Anyone who has the link can open it until it expires, so do not share confidential files this way (Terms §5.6).
- A folder link lists the files in the folder but does not let the recipient download them. To let someone download, share the file itself. See What the recipient sees.
Link limit on Studio Free
A Studio Free workspace can have 10 active share links at a time. When you reach it, Studio says Share link limit reached. Wait for a link to expire or remove the file, or upgrade for unlimited links (See {plan} goes to Plan & billing). Paid plans have no link limit.
Stop a link early
Studio has no separate list of links yet. A link stops working when:
- it expires;
- you delete the file or folder (it comes back if you restore the item before it expires);
- you delete the item permanently from Trash (for good).
The delete dialog tells you how many active share links the item has.
