A share link does not work

Why a share link says "This link no longer works", why a folder link has no download, and what to do when you cannot create a link.
For the person who received the link

For the person who shared it
- The link expired sooner than expected. Check the date shown when you created it. A link created with Never currently gets the default expiry of 7 days. Create a new link with After 90 days if you need longer.
- The file is in Trash. Links stop working while the file is deleted. Restore it from Trash and its links that have not expired work again.
- Share link limit reached. A Studio Free workspace can have 10 active links. Wait until one expires, delete a file you shared and no longer need, or upgrade for unlimited links.
- You do not see Share link. You need manage access to the item. Ask an owner or admin.
