Export a print-ready PDF (bleed, CMYK and PDF/X-4)
Last reviewed Lees dit in het Nederlands
The print PDF export can add bleed, convert RGB to CMYK with the FOGRA39 profile and mark the file as PDF/X-4 when it passes every check. Exports are free.
Open Export to download your file as PDF, PNG and JPEG. Exporting never costs tokens.
Print PDF
The print PDF is offered for a PDF upload, or for a purpose measured in millimetres with a print size. For a PDF upload, Endorr edits the PDF's own pages instead of turning them into an image, so vectors and text stay sharp, and every page is kept.
Bleed
- Switch on Add bleed and choose 1 to 10 mm, in steps of 0.5 mm. The default is 3 mm, and bleed is on by default for Paper print.
- Endorr enlarges the page around the trim and mirrors the edge of the artwork outwards. The finished size (trim box) stays the same and the artwork is never scaled.
- Bleed is only added where the file has less than you asked for. All-white margins are left empty.
CMYK
- Switch on Convert to CMYK · ISO Coated v2 300% (FOGRA39) to convert RGB colours with that profile and embed it as the output intent. It is on by default for Paper print.
- Pure black in vector artwork becomes 100% K only.
- A few things stay RGB and are reported, such as JPEG 2000 images and some special colour spaces.
PDF/X-4
Endorr checks the finished PDF and marks it as PDF/X-4 only when every rule it checks passes:
- no RGB colour or RGB transparency group left;
- a CMYK output profile is embedded;
- all fonts are embedded;
- valid page boxes: a trim box inside the bleed box, inside the media box;
- not encrypted, no JavaScript, no PostScript, no transfer functions, no layers;
- no annotations other than links and printer's marks.
In practice: with CMYK switched off the file has no output profile, so it is not PDF/X-4 (unless the original was already fully CMYK with a CMYK profile). Endorr cannot embed missing fonts; it reports them.
These are Endorr's own checks, not a certified preflight. Your printer's check is final.
Not included
Endorr does not add crop marks or registration marks.
Image exports
PNG or JPEG at the resolution of your print size. The file name gets "-fixed" only if the pixels changed. When you upload a PDF and edited it as an image, choose Original page · vectors (your edits are not included) or Edited image (text is no longer selectable).
When you are signed in, every downloaded export is also saved to your Endorr files. See Where your fixed files are saved.
