Encryption and security in Endorr Cloud for Windows
Last reviewed Lees dit in het Nederlands
Files are encrypted on your PC with AES-256 before they upload. Your sign-in is stored protected by Windows, and the app never sees your password.
Your files
- Every file is encrypted on your PC with AES-256 before it uploads, with a key per file, and sent over an encrypted connection.
- The keys are managed by Endorr and kept by the app in memory only; they are never written to disk in plain text. This is not end-to-end ("zero-knowledge") encryption. End-to-end encrypted vault folders are not supported by this version.
- Files you downloaded are normal files in your Endorr folder. They are protected like other files on your PC: use Windows device encryption or BitLocker if you need them encrypted on disk.
Your sign-in
- You sign in in your own browser, so the app never sees your password.
- The app's sign-in is stored in your Windows profile, protected with Windows' own data protection for your user.
- Signing out in the app revokes this device's access.
What the app sends
To help fix problems, the app sends crash reports and basic technical data (app version, operating system, sync status). It does not send file contents for this (Terms §16.3). Its local log never contains your files or passwords.
